A Few Nights Each Life

—an excerpt from In the Hands of the Immortal Weaver: Poems of Memory and Belonging, forthcoming 2015

by L.M. Browning

We spent one night
you and I,
while taking respite
in that tent
pitched along the inlet
of dreams and reality.

Bodies entwined, souls blurred,
we drank deeply
the wine of forgetfulness,
letting our souls recall
the past life
in which we first met.
